👟 Hey! 2023 is almost gone...only two months left before the end of the year. Where do you stand in relation to your annual goals? No panic... Here is what you can do.
Indeed, at this point of the year, you still have a few weeks to make things happen. But not time to lose. These weeks can be critical and turn the progress you made in the past 10 months into achievements by the end of the year. It is a good moment to get ready for it!
1️⃣ GET BACK TO YOUR ANNUAL PLAN
Yes, the one you developed in the first months of the year. You might even have forgotten some of it, especially if you haven't got back to it during the year (by the way, this should not be the case).
What were your main KPIs, what were your main commitments? Where do you stand at the moment?
If you feel a bit behind, time to focus on the most critical ones. If you have achieved some of them, time to capitalize on them (for your annual performance review, but also to provide grounds for the next targets)
2️⃣ BE PROACTIVE AND REQUEST A MEETING WITH YOUR SUPERVISOR
Indeed, whether you are on good tracks or not, it is always a good signal that you send by proactively requesting a check-point meeting with your supervisor.
Obviously, you will have to come prepared to the meeting with your self-assessment ready and a preliminary plan for the coming two months.
But what is most important is to listen and get to know your supervisor's views and priorities, for him and for the organization, at this time of the year. Try to reach a common vision and an agreement by the end of the session.
3️⃣ PRIORITIZE AND PLAN DAY-BY-DAY
Once you have clarity on what the priorities are (preferably in agreement with your supervisor), plan your efforts accordingly.
I would advise to define at least one clear intermediary target/step per day. You don't need to get into micro details but you need clarity because any day that you miss might have huge consequences on the final year assessment.
